Research with Human Participants and/or Case Studies

_______ If research involved the use of human participants was the research with human participants approved by an institutional ethics committee or institutional review board (“IRB”) and is this so indicated in the manuscript?

_______ Did the participants give informed consent to be involved in this research and is this so indicated in the manuscript?

_______ Does the manuscript give any case study or individual participant information? If so, complete the “Case Presentation Checklist” at http://dynamic.uoregon.edu/~jjf/jtd/casechecklist.html  and submit with manuscript.

 

Required Format – General Issues

_______ Manuscripts must be double-spaced, with 1 inch (3 centimeter) margins on all sides, with 12 point font. 

_______ Paragraphs should be indented at 0.5 inches.

_______ All pages should be numbered beginning with the title page.

_______ There should only be one space between periods. 

_______ Manuscripts have been spell-checked.

_______ Manuscripts have been edited so that the writing is clear and concise. (Shorter manuscripts have a higher acceptance rate.)

_______ Authors listed with degrees (e.g., MS, PhD, MD)

_______ Location of the institution and place where the work was done

_______ Corresponding author's name, address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail

_______ Word count

_______ (If applicable) Acknowledgment of previous presentation, grant support, commercial support, or other credit.

_______ Contact information and complete mailing addresses of all co-authors (other than the Corresponding Author) should be on a separate page immediately after the Title Page.

 

Abstract Page

_______ A single paragraph abstract of 100-250 words must be provided.

_______ Key words for index purposes


Citations in text

_______ All citations in text should be in proper APA format. **Please ensure that your format is compliant with the following examples, and consult the APA manual for formats not listed below.**
  1. Work by one author: (Putnam, 1989).
  2. Work by two authors: (Cardeña & Spiegel, 1993). Cite both names every time the reference occurs in the text. Use no comma between authors.
  3. Work by three, four or five authors: First text citation: (Van der Hart, Van Kijke, Van Son, & Steele, 2000). Use commas after all authors. Subsequent text citations: (Van der Hart et al., 2000).
  4. Work by six or more authors: In all text citations, use only the surname of the first author followed by et al. and the year of publication, e.g., (Ross et al., 1992).
  5. Order of citation: When citing two or more works within the same parenthesis, list them in alphabetical order by the surname of the first author. Separate citations by semicolons.

 

Reference List

_______ Reference list should be double-spaced, with a hanging indent format.

_______ Each reference should list all authors.

_______ There should be no spaces between author initials (for example: Putnam, F.W.)

_______ Full titles of journals should be listed.
